Director of Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA), Professor Dr. Shaheen Akhter delivered a special lecture on Cerebral Palsy in 73rd Annual Meeting of The American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, USA. Her session title was ‘ETIOLOGY, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF CEREBRAL PALSY IN HIGH INCOME VS LOW/MIDDLE INCOME COUNTRIES’.
The meeting held in vibrant Anaheim, California from September 18-21, 2019 with the slogan ‘Knowledge Without Borders’.
Director of Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA), Professor Dr. Shaheen Akhter left Dhaka yesterday for USA to join 73rd Annual Meeting of The American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine. Meeting to be held in vibrant Anaheim, California from September 18-21, 2019. This year the conference theme is: “Knowledge Without Borders”.
Professor Dr. Shaheen is likely to present special session on Cerebral Palsy in the meeting. She will also exchange views with international health care professionals and scientists from around the world.
(IPNA, BSMMU, 13 May 2018) Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has declared the name of Prof. Dr. Shaheen Akhter as the director of the Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA), the first ever institute of BSMMU.
The Prof. Akhter, Professor of Paediatrc Neurology founded Centre for Neurodevelopment and Autism in Children (CNAC) in 2009. Then it converted into the Establishment Project of The Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA) in 2014.
After the approval of academic council and syndicate of BSMMU and finally from Bangladesh University Grant Commission (UGC), IPNA becomes first ever and full-fledged Institute of BSMMU.
A day-long workshop titled “Cerebral Palsy: An Update” was held at Shaheed Milon Hall of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on 22 April 2018. BSMMU vice-chancellor Prof Dr Kanak Kanti Barua inaugurated the event.
Addressing the inaugural session of the workshop, Prof Kanak said this kind of workshop is very much essential to share the experience on Cerebral Palsy diseases, its current situation and remedy.
Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA) of the BSMMU in association with International Child Neurology Association (ICNA) organized the workshop. Addressing the programme world renowned child neurologist Prof Dr Pratibha Singhi from India, Dr Harleen Uppal from India, Dr Biju Hameed from UK and IPNA director Prof Dr Shaheen Akhter put forward the important information about disease.
Dr Shaheen Akhter said till now, they provided treatment to 11,000 Cerebral Palsy patients.
IPNA wants to create a world where children with developmental disabilities and their parents can get their questions answered and their needs met in a caring environment.
