Dr. Syeda Tabassum Alam passed MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka in January, 1987 and passed Diploma in child Health in July, 1991 from IPGMER. She has been completed fellowship in Paediatrics (FCPS) on January 2006. She also completed Doctor of Medicine in Paediatric Neurology & Neuro-Development (MD-Paediatric Neurology) from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh. She completed Fellowship in Autism from South Korea.

After qualified BCS (Health) Examination, in 1990 She joined as an Assistant Surgeon in Government Service and worked in different District Government Hospitals.

Later she joined as Medical Officer in Department of Paediatrics in BSMMU (Ex – IPGMER) on 1994 and worked as Research Medical Officer and consultant in Paediatrics Department of BSMMU. She was promoted to Assistant Professor of Paediatrics on 2006 and worked for 7 years upto 2013. Then she has been promoted to Associate Professor on January 2013 and has been working in Department of Paediatric Neurology & Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder & Autism (IPNA), BSMMU, Dhaka, Bangladesh till to date.

She has been promoted to Deputy Director (Administration) in Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder & Autism (IPNA) on October 10, 2021 and has working till  to date.

She has more than 30 articles in national and international journal & has been actively involved in research, teaching & other academic activities of BSMMU. She participated many international neurology conferences in Bhutan,  South Korea and India etc.
