ToT on Nation-wide Survey on Young Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder 2017

A- two days 'Training of Trainers' (ToT) for two batches was held in the seminar room of IPNA, BSMMU on 11-14 March 2017 on Nation-wide Survey on Young Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder 2017. Each batch trainees ware comprise of 15 persons of whom doctors, psychologists, teachers, instructors, counselor and therapists of IPNA were included. The ToT was inaugurated by the Project Director of IPNA. The Project Director, Deputy Project Director, Research Medical Officer and the Survey Consultant of IPNA were the master trainers of the ToT.

IPNA Arranged an Excursion for Autism School Students

(IPNA, 3 March 2017): A very joyous and lively excursion cum outing has been arranged for IPNA Autism School students and their parents at Savar Military Dairy Farm on 3 March 2017. Prof. Dr. Kamrul Hasan Khan, VC, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) along with treasurer of BSMMU Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ali Asgar Morol also participated in this grand occasion.

Autism Training for Upazila Level Doctors held at IPNA

A three day long ‘Training on Autism for Upazila Level Doctors' has been inaugurated Saturday 18th February 2017 at IPNA seminar room in BSMMU organized by the Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA). The aim of the training is to disseminate the knowledge on Autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders among the doctors working in rural areas.

 The training program was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Shaheen Akhter, Project Director, Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Mr. Mohammad Abdul Quader, Deputy Project Director of IPNA was present at the session.

A two day long '7th Early Intervention and Home Management Training for Parents  of Children with Autism' has been inaugurated Sunday 29th January 2017 at IPNA seminar room in BSMMU organized by the Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA). The aim of the training is to activate the parents more in home management for their children with autism.

The training program was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Shaheen Akhter, Project Director, Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Mr. Mohammad Abdul Quader, Deputy Project Director of IPNA was present at the session.

IPNA Organised Day-long Workshop on ASD

The Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA) in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) organized day-long ‘Workshop on Autism Diagnosis and Management’ at conference hall, Jessore Medical College & Hospital (JMCH), Jessore on 22 January 2017. The aim of the workshop is to disseminate the knowledge on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) among the professionals practicing in rural areas, the part of IPNA’s commitment to create mass awareness throughout the country.

Celebrating "World Mental Health Day-2016"

For mental health wellbeing, like all over the world, Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) also arrange and celebrate the "Mental Health Day 2016". The them of this year was "Psychological First Aid". Ribbon Binding, Leaflet distribution and a workshop on "Psychological First Aid" were conducted in this day. All staffs of IPNA were included in "Psychological First Aid" workshop.

IPNA Organised Day-long Workshop on ASD

 

The Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA) in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) organized day-long ‘Workshop on Autism Diagnosis and Management’ at Mymensingh Medical College on 29 November 2016. The aim of the workshop is to disseminate the knowledge on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) among the professionals practicing in rural areas, the part of IPNA’s commitment to create mass awareness throughout the country.

The workshop conducted by Dr. Syeda Tabassum Alam, Associate Professor, IPNA, BSMMU, Dr. Sanjida Ahmed, Medical Officer, IPNA, BSMMU, Dr. A.S.M. Sabbir, Medical Officer, IPNA, BSMMU Monira Akter, Autism Instructor, IPNA, BSMMU.

More than 68 participants including doctors, therapists, psychologists were participating in the workshop. This workshop is the continuation of IPNA’s Training Plan.

ICNA Educational Meeting 2016 held in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

 

Under the auspices of International Child Neurology Association (ICNA), the Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA) in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has successfully organized two-day long “ICNA Educational Meeting”. The meeting was held on 5-6 November 2016 which took place at Hotel Ocean Paradise in the city of Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The theme of the event was “Towards Better Service in Child Neurology and Development”.

The event hosted internationally reputed scholars in the field of child neurology and development and focused on the exchange of knowledge, updated scientific presentations and discussions on best practice in Autism, Epilepsy, Movement Disorder, Development in Children, CNS Infections, Cerebral Palsy, Neurometabolism & Neurodegeneration. The program was supported by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bangladesh Paediatric Association (BPA) and Bangladesh Society for Child Neurology, Development and Disability (BSCNDD).

Saima Wazed Hossain Putul

Ms. Saima Wazed Hossain, Chairperson of Shuchona Foundation and the National Advisory Committee on Autism in Bangladesh, is to attend an award ceremony of the “UNESCO/Emir Jaber Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Prize for Digital Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities”, on the 2nd of December, at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France. Ms. Hossain has been elected as the Chairperson of the International Jury Board for the next two years.

The Prize, introduced with the financial support of Kuwait, is offered to both an individual and an organization that has made outstanding contributions in promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities through the application of digital resources, solutions and technologies. The award ceremony will be part of a half-day event celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, to promote awareness and mobilize support for critical issues relating to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society and development. The theme for this year’s International Day is “Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want”. This theme notes therecent adoption of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) and the role of these goals in building a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities.

During this event, Ms. Saima Wazed Hossain will also participate in a high-level panel discussion with high-level speakers and international experts, working in this particular subject area.
